Symptoms of Panic Disorders and How to Handle Unwanted Thoughts

The symptoms of panic attacks may differ from every individual and some people who suffer from panic attacks may not have a few of them at all.

Here’s a list from someplace else.

  • Dizziness or unsteadiness
  • Inappropriate/Disturbed thoughts
  • Chills or hot flushes
  • Skin losing color
  • Paresthesias (numbness or tingling sensations) in face, extremities or body
  • Urgently needing to urinate or defecate
  • Shaking visibly or inside
  • Derealization (feeling unreal or dreamy)
  • Smothering or shortness of breath sensations
  • Blushing or skin blotches
  • Feeling light-headed
  • Fear of losing control or going crazy
  • Rapid heart beat, pounding heart or palpitations
  • Chest pain or discomfort

If you have 3 or more of these symptoms, then you have a panic attack. The change in the way you feel is dramatic and some might even think about suicide. When fear is present, so is anxiety. They almost always come together. Fear can be irrational at times but it can still bring about anxiety. Too much adrenaline caused by fear can be detrimental to your mind. Too much adrenaline can do much damage to your mind and body.

Probably the best approach for handling anxiety is to control your thoughts and not let it control you. These thoughts rob you off your mental energy, put you on edge and clutter your minds. Don’t let your mind go on autopilot if you can’t stay calm. Things will seem to get worse to no end.

By first being aware of your thoughts you can then let it run its course until they go away. You know what I mean right? Sometimes the thought are there but it doesn’t necessarily mean you are aware of them. But you would surely be aware of its effects if you don’t acknowledge it. You can be in much better shape by simply taking notice of what you’re thinking at any given moment. You can even go further by making it a point to ask yourself what you’re thinking at any moment. You can control it but you have to be aware first.

Most of your unwanted thoughts would probably go away once you are aware of it. Practice this and make it a habit and you’ll be on your way to becoming anxiety free.
